Drop cookies or simply a cookie is flat and sweet. Cookies contained flour, sugar, egg, and butter. It also contains magic and a whole lot of love that is why they are simply delicious and irresistible. Different kinds of cookies

There are several classifications of cookies. Cookies are classified according to how they are being formed. Being familiar with the different kinds of cookies will give you a heightened sense of appreciation of the way they taste and the way they are made. But you need to remember that basically is made up of flour, sugar, egg, and butter. You may want to deviate by incorporating other kinds of ingredients but the results are still the same, it is still good and irresistible for both kids and for the kids at heart. Here are the different classifications of cookies.

  • Bar Cookies – brownies, fruit squares and date squares, it consist of batter that are poured or pressed into a pan.
  • Drop Cookies – chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal raisin and other oatmeal-based cookies and rock cakes are example of drop cookies. They are called as such because of the way how they are made that is by “dropping” a spoonful into the baking sheet. A variation that has a jam filling or a chocolate chip is widely common and is accepted widely.
  • Filled cookie – the Hamantashen is an example of a filled cookie, this type of cookie is made from rolled cookie dough filled with fillings such fruit, jam or other confectionery filling before it is baked.
  • Molded cookies – Snickerdoodles, peanut butter cookies, biscotti are example of this cookie. This cookie is made from a stiffer dough that is molded into balls or cookie shapes by hand before it is baked.
  • No-bake cookies – Oatmeal clusters, rum ball are example of this kind of cookie. It is made by mixing a filler like cereal or nuts into a melted binder then shaped into cookie or bars then cooled to harden.
  • Pressed cookies – Spritzgeback is an example of this kind of cookie, it is made from soft dough pressed out from a press.
  • Refrigerator cookies – Pinwheel cookies is an example of this kind of cookie, it is made from a stiff dough that had been refrigerated to make the raw dough stiffer before cutting and baking.
  • Rolled cookies – Gingerbread man is a classic example of this kind of cookie, it is made from a stiffer dough that is rolled out and cut into shapes.
  • Sandwich cookie – Oreo is a classic example. It is a kind of cookie that is assembled like a sandwich then filled with either marshmallow, jam, vanilla and icing.

It was founded way back in 1977 and is headquartered in Atlanta.

The Great American Cookie was founded by Michael J. Coles and was partnered with Arthur Karp. Their first store was opened in Perimeter Mall in Atlanta. By 1985 the company was earning $100 million per year and was considered the largest retail cookie chain in the United States. It was sold to Mrs. Fields Famous Brands in 1998 and in 2008 it was acquired by NexCen Brands Inc. Since 2010 Global Franchise Group, LLC owned The Great American Cookie.
