This is where most home and family living techniques are taught and being handed down from generation to generation. Materials at home

Wood

Typically most homes in one way or another use wood as a material. For thousands of years, shelters were made of wood. After centuries have passed we still use and prefer wood in home construction. Advancements in technologies have made wood last longer and resistant to termite attacks and infestation. Most home furniture is made out of wood. Cleaning equipment, chemical, and solutions are specially formulated for wood components. Alcohol reacts with wood finishing like varnish and shellac. Avoid using chemicals you use in your bathroom in cleaning your wooden furniture, they do not go well.

Steel

It is a strong material that is sometimes used as a foundation and pillar of your house. But it doesn’t mean you can just ignore cleaning it. You must not use abrasives in cleaning steel. Read carefully the label of some chemicals before even thinking about cleaning those items that have steel. Bleach and ammonia are not advised in cleaning steel.

Tile floor

Porcelain floor tiles have low maintenance unlike granite, marble or limestone requires care and specific cleaning chemicals. Ceramic and porcelain tiles are durable and only require easy cleaning tips and less effort. For your ceramic and porcelain tile to be clean do the following things:

Remove loose debris – gently sweep or vacuum your tile floor often so that they won’t get dull. Sand can dull the glazed surface.
Use the right floor mop – use mild detergent and clean water in cleaning your tile floor. A chamois mop is much desirable compared to a sponge mop. Change the water frequently in mopping because dirty water makes the floor cloudy.

Look out for stains – if you see any signs of discoloration, it is a red flag, trace the substance that stained your floor.
Look out for soap residue – if after mopping you notice your floor to be hazy, you have a problem with soapy residue. You may use a little ingenuity by using fresh lemon juice on your ceramic or porcelain tile floor, but avoid using this to stone tiles.
Make an effort to dry your tiles – avoid air drying your tile floor, excess water will form water spots. Dry your tile floor with a clean lint-free cloth right after washing.

Leather

A leather couch gives a luxurious touch to your home. Leathers can be subjected to wear and tear. A ripped part or a discolored part of your couch could ruin your mood. Leather needs to clean and care for properly. It is not like wood or ceramic, there are some chemicals that would react very differently on leather surfaces.

Leather is an animal hide or skin, leather furniture needs to be dusted with a dry cloth and if possible, apply a liberal amount of leather cream to keep it soft and well moisturized. The leather cream is what you use to clean and remove any dirt or stain that suddenly appears on your couch. Refrain from using abrasive and bleach in cleaning your leather furniture it will dry out your leather surface leaving it to age prematurely.
