How to Get the Sink Shiny and Clean?

Both the stainless steel sink and porcelain sink will stop looking shiny when they become dirty. Fortunately, you can make them shine once again by cleaning them with the right cleaning agents and methods. Kindly follow the steps below to get your sink shiny and clean.

Wash food bits and light stains with soap and water

You won’t see the tough stains on the sink until you remove food bits and light stains. Both light stains and tough stains will make the sink look messy. Soap and water can help you remove the light stains from the sink, but you will need more than that to remove tough stains. Get a sponge and scrub every part of the sink as you pour soapy water on the sink. The sink might look a bit shiny at this stage, but you still need to do more things to make it look very shiny.

Wash the sink with baking soda or hydrogen peroxide

Wash your sink with baking soda and lemon juice if it is made of stainless steel, but if it is made of porcelain, you should use hydrogen peroxide. Let’s explain how you should use these agents to wash your sink.

For stainless steel sinks, you should mix a teaspoon of baking soda with a small quantity of lemon juice and spread the mixture on the entire sink’s surface. Leave the mixture on the sink’s surface for about 15 minutes. Take a kitchen brush and use it to scrub every part of the sink so that the tough stains will remove. Rinse the sink with water after you have scrubbed every part of it.  Your sink will look very shiny and clean after you rinse it.

For a porcelain sink, you should spray hydrogen peroxide on the entire sink’s surface. Let the hydrogen peroxide stay on the sink’s surface for at least 15 minutes. After that, you should get a kitchen brush and scrub the sink to remove tough stains. Rinse the sink with water after you have scrubbed every part of it. Your sink will appear shiny and clean after you rinse it.

Clear odors with hot water

In case the sink gives out offensive odors after you have washed its surface, you’ll have to pour hot water into the drain to remove offensive odors. Sinks sometimes give out offensive odors when junks get stuck along the drain. Hot water will loosen and wash down the junk. So, if you can perceive any offensive odor, you shouldn’t hesitate to pour hot water into the drain.

How Do You Clean Bacteria?

Bacteria are everywhere, including kitchens. If you don’t make any attempt to clean them in your kitchen, they will contaminate the food that you prepare in your kitchen. Fortunately, bacteria aren’t so difficult to clean. Let’s show you how you can clean bacteria in your kitchen.

Disinfect the sink regularly

The kitchen sink is one of the major places where bacteria hide in your kitchen. The food particles and little moisture on the sink make it a good hiding place for bacteria. You can make the sink inhabitable for bacteria by spraying disinfectant on it from time to time.

Dry the sponge when you are not using it

The sponge serves as a good habitat for bacteria. A sponge will not only hide bacteria, but it will also spread bacteria to other items that you wash with the sponge. Fortunately, you can make sponges inhabitable for bacteria without using a disinfectant. Bacteria won’t survive on a dry sponge, so make sure your sponge stays dry when you aren’t using it. You should air dry sponges after every use and put them in a microwave at least once every week.

Wash the dishcloth regularly

Most of the time, dishcloths are damp, making it possible for bacteria to survive on them. You can make dishcloths free from bacteria by washing them in warm soapy water from time to time.

Wash the fridge regularly

The items that you store in your fridge can bring bacteria into the fridge. You can remove bacteria from your fridge by washing it regularly.

How Do I Get It to Shine?

There are no big secrets behind having a shiny kitchen. You only need to carry out some simple practices to make your kitchen shine. Follow these steps to make your kitchen shine:

Clean the surfaces you touch regularly

The truth is that our hands can make surfaces become dirty very quickly. If you observe your kitchen well, you’ll discover that the dirtiest surfaces are the ones that you touch regularly. Although it’s impossible to cook in a kitchen without touching any surface, you can still maintain a shiny kitchen.

Dampen a cloth and wipe the surfaces that you touch every time. Some examples of these surfaces include knobs, switches, handles, and cabinets. We recommend that you clean these surfaces at least once per week.

Clean the appliances that you use regularly

Appliances that you use often will become dirty faster than the ones you use occasionally. Even if you don’t have much time to clean all your appliances weekly, you should at least clean the ones you use regularly.

The appliances that most people regularly use in the kitchen include a stove, oven, fridge, and microwave. These appliances will get stained faster than the other appliances in your kitchen, so you should clean them as often as possible. We recommend that wipe stains away from these appliances at least once per week.

Clean every part of the kitchen when you get the chance

Your kitchen won’t shine uniformly if you only clean some parts of it and leave other parts uncleaned. The reason why we asked you to focus on the parts we mentioned earlier is that those parts get stained very quickly. Once in a while, you should spend some time cleaning every part of your kitchen. We recommend that you clean all parts at least once every month.

If you clean your kitchen according to the way we mentioned above, you’ll realize how beautiful and shiny your kitchen can get.

How to Clean the Oven?

You can clean ovens with different methods. Let’s mention all the available methods.

Method 1

If the oven isn’t very dirty, you may clean it using the self-cleaning function if your oven has it. Before you use the self-Self-cleaning function, you should remove all items that are inside the oven. You should remove the racks also and soak them in hot water. While the oven is empty, you should clean up large bits of baked food as much as you can. Thereafter, you should close the oven door and activate the self-cleaning function.

Wait for the cleaning cycle to complete and allow the oven to cool down after the cycle completes. Dampen a cloth when the oven cools down and wipe off ash residue that you see inside the oven. Finally, you should wash the racks you have soaked initially with soap and water. This particular method works well for an oven that isn’t very dirty. If the oven you intend to clean appears too dirty, you should clean it with the methods below.

Method 2

This method requires you to clean the oven with an oven cleaner that you purchase at a store. Start by removing every item in the oven. Remove the racks also and soak them in hot soapy water. Get old newspapers and lay them on the oven’s floor. Thereafter, you should wear gloves and spray the cleaner you purchased inside the oven. We recommend that you wear safety glasses while using an oven cleaner to protect your eyes from chemicals.

Make sure you spray all parts of the oven except the heating elements. Close the oven door after you have sprayed it properly and allow the spray to sit for about 30 minutes. After 30 minutes is over, you should wipe the surface of the oven with a damp cloth. You may use a sponge to remove grime that the damp cloth can’t wipe off. Lastly, you should wash the racks you have soaked already and put them back in the oven.

Method 3

This method utilizes natural cleaning options, and it takes a longer time, but the time is really worth it. Start by mixing a half cup of baking soda with 3 tablespoons of water. The mixture should look like a spreadable paste. You should add an additional quantity of water or baking soda if it doesn’t look spreadable after the initial mixture.

You should remove all the items in the oven just like we did in the other methods. Thereafter, you should spread the paste over the interior surface of the oven, but don’t let the paste get to the heating elements. Leave the paste on the surface for at least 12 hours. When 12 hours is over, you should wipe out the baking soda paste with a damp cloth. The soda paste won’t wipe out entirely, so you should spray vinegar on the residue and wipe out the vinegar-baking soda mixture.

Remember to wash the racks in hot soapy before you put them back in the oven. Make sure you wipe the exterior part of the oven with a damp cloth so that it will look shiny on the outside also.

How to Clean the Cabinets?

You can clean the cabinets in your kitchen lightly or thoroughly, depending on how messy it appears. Let’s mention how you can clean cabinets both lightly and thoroughly.

Light cleaning

If your kitchen cabinet isn’t very dirty, you can clean it within a few minutes using liquid dish soap. The procedure is quite easy. Add a little quantity of green soap to a little quantity of warm water. Remove all items from the cabinets. Thereafter, you should dip a cloth or sponge into the soapy water and wipe the cabinets with the cloth or sponge. The cabinet should look clean and shiny by the time you are done cleaning it. However, if you can still see some stains on it, you should clean it using the method below.

Deep cleaning

This method involves the use of a commercial cleaner or a homemade cleaner. To make a cleaner at home, you only need to mix an equal volume of vinegar and water together. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and add a little quantity of dishwashing soap to the bottle. Now, the cleaner is ready for use.

Remove all items from the cabinets and spray the commercial cleaner or homemade cleaner on the cabinets. Wipe the cabinet with a sponge before the cleaner dries up. After you have washed all parts of the cabinets, you should dip a cloth in clean water and use it to wipe the cabinet. Lastly, you should dry the cabinet with a clean towel. Your cabinet will look very clean and shiny after you are done with the cleaning.

How to Clean the Fridge?

Follow the steps below to clean a fridge.

Remove all the items in the fridge

Remove the food you stored in the fridge. Remove the shelves and drawers also and soak them in lukewarm water.

Wash the interior part of the fridge with a cleaning solution

You can use a commercial cleaning solution, or you can prepare one by yourself. To prepare a cleaning solution by yourself, you should mix hot water with white vinegar. Let the volume of the hot water in the mixture be 3 times larger than the volume of white vinegar. Thereafter, you should add about 2 tablespoons of baking soda to the mixture. The cleaning solution is now ready for use.

Spray the cleaning solution into the fridge and wipe the surface immediately with a sponge. Don’t use a hard sponge to avoid having scratches on the fridge. After you have cleaned all the fridge’s interior parts, use a clean towel, and use it to wipe the fridge dry.

Wash shelves and drawers

Use a sponge and dish soap to wash the drawers. You may wash them in the sink. Make sure you rinse them very well with clean water after the washing so that they won’t retain the scent of the soap. Dry them after you rinse them properly.

Wipe the outer part of the fridge

You should clean the outer part of the fridge with the cleaning solution you used for the interior part. After you have washed the outer part with the cleaning solution, you should dip a towel in clean water and use it to wipe off the outer part of the fridge.

Put the drawers, shelves, and food back into the fridge when everything dries completely.

How to Clean the Kitchen Floor?

Follow the instructions below to clean the kitchen floor. The cleaning method below works well for all floor types.

Start the cleaning by sweeping the floor. You may decide to use a vacuum cleaner instead of a broom. Just make sure the floor doesn’t have food particles, papers, sand, or any other solid dirt. Now that the floor looks a bit cleaner, it’s time to mop it. We recommend that you mop the kitchen floor with a mixture of vinegar, baking soda, and water since the mixture removes stains well without bleaching the floor.

Do not allow much water to stay on the floor, especially if your kitchen has a hardwood floor or laminate floor, so that water won’t sip into the floor. The floor of your kitchen will look very clean and shiny after spending some time cleaning it the way we have explained here.

How to Clean the Kitchen Table?

Follow these steps to clean a kitchen table. Pour clean water into two buckets. Add a little quantity of vinegar and dish soap into one of the buckets.  Get a clean towel and dip it into the bucket that contains vinegar and dish soap. Use the towel to apply the cleaning mixture to the surface of the table. Leave the cleaning mixture on the table for about 5 minutes.

When 5 minutes is over, wipe the surface of the table with a microfiber cloth. The grime on the table will be removed as you wipe the table with the microfiber cloth. After you have wiped the entire surface of the table, you should dip the cloth in the bucket that contains the clean water. Wash the cloth and use it to wipe the table once again until the table looks very clean.

Now that the table looks clean, you should make it shine by applying wood oil to it. To do this, you should get a clean, dry cloth and use it to spread wood oil on the surface of the table. Allow the oil to stay on the surface of the table for at least 20 minutes. When 30 minutes is over, you should wipe out the oil with another dry cloth. Your kitchen table will look clean and shiny after you have done this.

How to Clean the Desktop in the Kitchen?

Follow these steps to clean a kitchen desktop. Remove all the items on the desktop. Take a dry cloth and dust the desktop to clean the surface dirt. If the desktop doesn’t look too dirty after you dusted it, you can easily clean up the little dirt on it using a cloth and warm soapy water. Dip the cloth into the warm soapy water and use it to clean the kitchen desktop.

In case you can still see some stains on the desktop after you have cleaned it with soap and water, you’ll have to remove the stains with stain removal. You should consider the material that the desktop is made of while you are choosing a stain removal to use. The table below shows the ideal stain removal for the common materials for kitchen desktop.

MaterialStain removal
WoodVinegar and water
Marble and GraniteBaking soda and water

If the desktop in your kitchen is made of quartz or engineered stone, you don’t need any special stain removal because the two materials are stain-resistant, so soap and water will remove all the light stains on them.

Follow these steps to remove tough stains with the stain removal that we mentioned above. Start by adding the appropriate stain removal to the area with stains. If you are using vinegar and water, you should wait for a few minutes before you scrub the surface, but if you are using baking soda and water, you might have to wait for some hours. After the waiting time is over, you should scrub the stained area with a microfiber cloth. Dip a towel in clean water and wipe the area once again to clean up the stain removal.

How to Clean the Microwave?

You can clean a microwave using different methods. We shall show you two easy methods here. Feel free to choose the one you find most comfortable.

Method 1 – Using lemon oil

Measure 60ml of water into a spray bottle, then add 3 drops of lemon oil into the bottle. After that, you should wipe out tiny dirt particles and food bits that are inside your microwave. Thereafter, you should spray the mixture you have prepared into the microwave. Place a microwave-safe bowl that contains clean water at the center of the microwave. Close the microwave door and switch it on for few minutes so that the water inside the bowl will produce steam to soften the grease and other grime inside the microwave.

Switch off the microwave after some minutes and bring the bowl out. Be careful with the bowl because it will be very hot. Get a sponge and wash the microwave thoroughly. After you have washed every part, you should wipe every part with a clean damp cloth. Lastly, you should clean the outer part of the microwave.

Method 2 – Using vinegar

Mix 240ml of water with 240ml of vinegar and pour the mixture into a microwave-safe bowl. After that, you should wipe out tiny dirt particles and food bits that are inside your microwave. Place the mixture at the center of the microwave, then switch on the microwave for a few minutes. The mixture will produce steam that will soften the grease and other grime inside the microwave.

Use a sponge to wash the microwave thoroughly. After you have washed all parts of the microwave, you should wipe the parts once again with a clean damp cloth. Thereafter, you should clean the outer part of the microwave.

How to Clean a Kitchen Stove?

We will show you two methods for cleaning a kitchen stove. You can use the two methods here to clean either a gas stove or electric stove.

Method 1- Using natural cleaners

You can clean kitchen stoves with natural cleaners like vinegar and baking soda. Prepare the cleaning solution by mixing equal volumes of water and vinegar together. After that, you should remove the burner, grate, knobs, and other parts from the stove. Please make sure the stove is not hot when you are removing these parts.

Usually, the grate will have more grime than all the other parts, so we recommend that you soak it in the solution of water and vinegar for 30 minutes while you wash the other parts immediately. Spray the burner with the solution that contains water and vinegar, then allow the solution to stay on the burner for 20 minutes.

You should clean other parts of the stove while you are waiting for the grate and burner to get ready for cleaning. Use the water-vinegar solution to clean every part of the stove, but if you come across any tough stain, you should cover the stain with baking soda for some minutes before you wash the stain once again. For gas stoves, you must not allow the electric starter to get wet while you are cleaning the stove.

Clean the burner and grates also when the time we stated earlier is over. Use a kitchen brush for the cleaning. Allow them to dry completely, then put them back in their position.

Method 2- Using ammonia

Please wear gloves and glasses before you handle ammonia. Measure about 240ml of ammonia into a big nylon bag. Thereafter, you should remove the burner, grate, knobs, and other parts from your stove and put them in the bag where you poured ammonia. Tie the mouth of the bag and store it in a cool place for 24 hours. The ammonia will produce fumes that will soften the grime on the stove parts within 24 hours.

When 24 hours is over, you should bring out the parts and wash them with a sponge and soapy water. Wash other parts of the stove also and restore all parts to their appropriate place.
