Best Floor Buffers

Floor buffers are great tools if you’re looking for an effective way to keep your floors shiny and beautiful all the time. These tools ensure that you don’t have to spend hours and hours cleaning your floors using potentially harmful chemicals. It doesn’t matter if you plan to use it at home or for your office – floor buffers are great tools both on a commercial level and for the home.

There are many floor buffers available on the market today, and it’s important to know what you’re buying before you make your purchase. That’s why we compiled a list of the best floor buffers on today’s market.

Let’s get started!

Oreck Commercial ORB550MC – Best Overall

If you take a look at any other list of floor buffers, you will find that Oreck’s Commercial ORB550MC tops most of those lists. That’s not without reason! This buffer is essentially all you need in a buffer, and it’s surely going to get the job done with any floor.

This buffer makes it simple to scrub and polish all floor surfaces as well as deep clean institutional-grade carpets. Most conventional floor scrubbers can be difficult to use. That’s why the Orbiter has a brush head that rotates with no torque or gouging in a random orbit for easy-to-use fingertip control. This sets it apart from the competition and it ensures that you’re always ready for your next cleaning.

It’s great for cleaning hardwood floors, but it’s got more than enough to handle tile or stone – don’t be afraid to use this buffer on any sort of floor. You can also use it to clean your carpets – many buffers don’t have this option, as their brushes are often too much for a carpet and you risk damaging it. However, this buffer is not going to damage your carpet in any way and you can use it safely.

This machine is designed primarily for cleaning wood, vinyl, and tiled floors – but that doesn’t stop it from being helpful with other floors, as well. It’s an ideal machine for cleaning your home and your office, and with the cleaning path of 13 inches – it’s surely going to shorten the time you need to clean the area.

According to the manufacturer, this buffer is great for dry cleaning carpets and deep cleaning high traffic institutional-grade carpets, buffing and polishing hardwood floors, scrubbing and cleaning ceramic tile and grout, scrubbing and cleaning concrete (it can also remove oil stains – this can be very helpful if your garage is in need of cleaning), polishing and revitalizing vinyl, scrubbing and cleaning brick, slate and stone floors, and lastly – cleaning hard floors and tile kits with a pad and cleaning chemical combinations which are sold separately.

The power cord of this buffer is 50 feet in length, so you’re not going to face the hassle of having to plug it every now and then.

This buffer utilizes a unique design of the random orbital drive, which makes it remarkably easy to do it yourself. The brush head moves in a random orbit pattern which allows the machine to easily glide over the floor and prevents brush marks, swirls, and gouges. This is great because it’s not rare that a floor buffer damages the floor – I’ve already mentioned that this can happen with carpets, but carpets aren’t the only victims of this.

Revitalization of any floor is very important if you want your floors to look clean and new – and this tool is the best way to do it. Over time, all flooring shows the wear and tear of daily use. Use this floor buffer to bring your floors back to life – the right combination of the right pad, brush, and cleaning product will get the job done, and with a wide 13-inch cleaning path it makes tough chores a breeze.

Pros:

  • this buffer is made in the USA, so you’re boosting the national economy if you choose it.
  • it’s easy to store, so you don’t have to worry about lack of space
  • it’s very easy to use, and the cord is long enough, so you don’t have to worry about plugs
  • the versatility of this buffer ensures that you can sand, buff, and wax any surface
  • not damaging to surfaces (including carpets)

Cons:

  • no additional equipment – there are no brushes and pads that come along, so you’re going to have to buy those separately

Oreck ORB700MB – Best for Budget

Oreck takes the crown once again, only this time for a completely different reason.

Buffers aren’t cheap – you’ll see when we come to the most expensive entry on this list that these tools are not cheap at all and that they’re definitely going to make a dent in your wallet. However, even if we take that into account, there are still buffers that are significantly cheaper than other alternatives. This buffer is one of them.

If your budget is somewhat tighter than you’d like it to be – your hands are still not completely tied, as Oreck has a solution coming for you in the shape of the ORB700MB.

This buffer is very similar to our previous entry, but there are slight differences that make this buffer cheaper.

This machine is lightweight, making it easy for handling – this doesn’t take away from its power, it can still scrub most types of floors to a great extent and you don’t have to worry about it leaving your floor unclean. You can do both a dry and a deep clean with this buffer, and it’s also as gentle on the carpet as our previous entry.

With this buffer, you have the option to clean your polished ceramic tiles, oily stains, hardwood floor, carpet odor, brick floor, cement floor, wooden floor, etc. – this makes it ideal for both home use and commercial use.

The machine itself is maintenance-free, and it’s very easy to use. The only notable problem with it is the engine – the motor needs all your attention as it can easily be damaged if you’re not careful about what you’re doing. The precision-engineered induction motor is constructed of durable zinc and steel, and there are no gears, belts, or motor brushes that can wear out.

Aside from that, it’s very adaptable and it can wax, finish and buff all types of floor, and it also comes with a 50-foot power cord. You also get a 10-year warranty with this buffer, so you don’t have to worry about it if it stops working one day.

Pros:

  • the price tag is much lower in comparison to other buffers
  • very versatile and gentle to floors
  • 10-year warranty

Cons:

  • the motor is somewhat troublesome and you have to be very careful around it

Gladwell Cordless – Best Cordless

The first thing I have to say about cordless buffers is the fact that they’re not nearly as powerful as corded buffers. Sure, they offer the freedom of having no cord, but they’re not as good at buffering as corded buffers. You’ll surely notice that the price of this buffer is considerably lower than the entry under Best Budget.

That’s because this buffer isn’t as powerful as that one – it’s cheaper, but it’s cheaper for a good reason: its quality can’t even compare.

However, if you need a buffer that’s only going to be used every now and then, then this option might be exactly what you’re looking for. It’s cheap (relatively), and it’s good enough to take care of all your cleaning needs around your home.

It’s very easy to use – this buffer’s ultra-thin 3-inch base and cordless design make this mop easy to use and allows you to store it without sacrificing much-needed space. The handle’s 180-degree rotation provides painless access to every space in your home. This ensures that there’s no area in your home you can’t reach.

Something that you’re naturally going to worry about with a cordless buffer is the battery. This buffer has a long-lasting battery that gives you the ability to clean without interruption. The Coaster charges fast, a 2-hour charge gives you enough battery life to clean your floors multiple times. So, not only does it charge quickly, but it holds that charge long enough for you to clean your whole home.

This buffer offers multiple options – you got whatever you need. Options for waxing, mopping, and quick spraying, you have the option of using this buffer in all circumstances, allowing for you to tailor the mop to eradicate even the toughest of stains.

The motors clean at an incredibly fast rate to remove grime, dirt, stains, and bacteria from your floor. The Coaster works on all surfaces including marble, wood, tile, or laminate floors. Just like with the previous entries on this list, you’re not limited to any specific surface – so feel free to clean whatever you’d like. The only thing I recommend is staying away from carpets.

This floor buffer uses new and improved Dual Spray technology, which gives you the capability to use the mop in all circumstances, allowing for you to tailor the mop to eradicate even the toughest of stains.

The handle of the buffer is completely extendable, so it’s going to be comfortable for you even if you’re tall. It also uses a LED light on the bottom of the mop to light your way on the floor – turn it on with a press of a button!

What’s a really important advantage of this buffer is the fact that it’s so slim. It’s only 3 inches in height of the base, ensuring that it can reach under virtually any surface, and ensuring that you can easily store it.

It’s also very light, weighing only 10.8 pounds, with a 300-milliliter water tank.

Pros:

  • very light and easy to store
  • the adjustable handle ensures that it’s comfortable for use
  • quick charge (2 hours) and long battery life ensure that you can clean your whole home
  • completely cordless

Cons:

  • since it’s cordless, it’s less powerful than corded buffers

Viper Fang 15B Compact Floor Polisher – Best Heavy-Duty

This should be your go-to if you’re looking for something big and strong. This buffer is by far the largest and the most powerful one on this list.

Its cleaning path is 15 inches wide, meaning that it’s actually wider than the cleaning path of Oreck’s Commercial ORB550MC – this thing can reach anything and it’s surely going to clean everything in its path in your home or your office.

It’s clearly designed for heavy-duty scrubbing and it’s perfect for areas that are really dirty. The most interesting thing about this buffer is the fact that it’s cordless. However, it’s not the same kind of cordless as with our previous entry. I don’t want to get in the engineering behind it, but this is heavy-duty cordless – the previous was lightweight.

Once it’s fully charged, you can clean it for 2 hours with this buffer. It won’t lose power at any point and you won’t have to worry about any of the things I’ve previously mentioned. This long-lasting battery is accompanied by a huge container for water, which is actually 3.5 gallons. This ensures that you won’t have to refill at any point during your cleaning.

The scrubbing rate of 8000ft per hour is absolutely astounding, making this buffer ideal for industrial floors. You can also use it on any sort of hard floor, but it really brings out the best results on tile floors.

You don’t have to worry about storage – despite being pretty bulky, the handle can be folded when you need to store the machine.

The only drawbacks to this machine are the noise and the weight. Given that it’s particularly noisy, it’s best for the user to wear noise-canceling headphones. It’s also heavy, so weaker people might find it difficult to operate.

Pros:

  • heavy-duty – this buffer can clean anything and it’s surely going to clean every stain
  • long runtime – it can run for two hours after charging fully
  • wide cleaning path – the 15-inch cleaning path is ensuring that you really get everything

Cons:

  • heavy – because of its heavy-duty nature, this buffer is very heavy
  • noise – it’s also very loud
  • not as versatile as other buffers on this list

Viper VN2015 Floor Buffer and Prolux Core Floor Buffer – Best for Commerical Use

This buffer is ideal for your office! Despite being designed for commercial use, not home use, it’s still very easy to use and it’s surprisingly quiet – it’s not nearly as noisy as the previous entry.

The fingertip controls on this buffer ensure that you’re in full control over the machine the whole time, and you don’t have to worry about losing it at any point.

The 66-frame motor achieves 1.5 HP, ensuring an average brush speed of 175 RPM. This is perfectly balanced to ensure the longevity of the buffer, as well as handling heavy-duty buffing.

It’s much heavier than most entries on this list – topping it with 109 pounds of weight. However, it’s not that difficult to store it. The pad driver can fold up to ease the storage – this also has an effect on the longevity of the buffer, so you don’t have to worry about it serving you.

However, this buffer isn’t suited for home use, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend using it on your carpets or hardwood floors. Another thing that has to be noted is the price of this buffer – it’s definitely not cheap, but that’s the price you have to pay for commercial-grade equipment.

Pros:

  • very good for heavy-duty use, ideal for offices
  • the pad folds up for storage, so you don’t have to worry about storing it
  • very powerful with a high count of RPM
  • you can use it on multiple surfaces, so it’s somewhat flexible in that regard
  • very stable and well-balanced when working despite being very heavy
  • quitter than most buffers of this size and power

Cons:

  • not suited for use at home
  • expensive

Prolux Core Floor Buffer

This is another heavy-duty floor buffer, and it’s a cheaper alternative to the previous entry.

If you’re not sure about which one you should choose, take a look at this one.

This buffer comes with a 13-inch single pad floor buffer with a set of 4 pads, a scrub brush, and a 50-foot commercial-grade extension. A lot of buffers don’t come with an extra set of pads (that’s usually something you have to buy separately), but this buffer has it included in the purchase. The 50-foot extension cord ensures that you don’t have to plug your buffer back every now and again, saving time.

The telescopic handle is going to ensure that your buffer is in no way damaged by the vibrations from the work and that those same vibrations don’t shake you too much. This wand makes height adjustments easy and ensures the perfect fit for users of any size. This is a big plus if you’ve very tall, as you won’t have to bend down all the time.

It’s also very versatile – you can use this buffer on any surface as it strips, waxes, buffs, sands, polishes, cleans, and refinishes any floor surface. You can also use it on floor types ranging from concrete to laminate and carpet. I do stress that you look into softer brushes if you’re going to use them on those surfaces, as they’re not as tough as hard flooring.

This buffer uses an innovative technology that’s much more effective in comparison to traditional buffers. Outdated traditional commercial buffers use buffer heads that only spin in one direction. This can cause swirl and sanding marks, gouges, and other damage to your floors. The Core uses a Random Orbit motor to avoid any and all of these issues.

Something that also has to be pointed out is – even though it’s marketed as a commercial buffer, it can also be used in your home. Firstly, it’s not that difficult to store, and it can be used even with softer floorings – not only hard floors. That makes it useful for both your home and your office, you only have to be careful when you use it.

The Prolux Core also works fantastically as a dry-cleaner for carpets, loosening embedded dirt in your carpet. This is a very useful feature if you’re planning on refreshing your carpet.

The high-torque motor used with this buffer ensures that it’s basically maintenance-free – it produces a powerful 150 RPMs over a wide 13″ cleaning path. That’s more than enough to clean anything in your path.

The only problem with this buffer is its weight. After all, it’s a heavy-duty buffer and it’s not easy to move around and use. It’s also not that simple to get it out of storage and clean tighter areas with it. That’s why it’s best to stick with office use, not home use.

Pros:

  • very versatile, you can use it with virtually any surface, just make sure to adjust the brushes and pads
  • it’s very simple to operate and it comes with a very long cord that ensures freedom as you’re using it
  • the handle of the buffer is completely adjustable
  • the innovative technology ensures that you get more out of this buffer than you would with traditional buffers
  • you get 4 different pads with this buffer, something that other buffers don’t offer

Cons:

  • heavy, needs strength to operate
  • large, hence difficult to use with tight areas

Bissell BigGreen BGFS5000 Portable Two Brush Floor Scrubber – Best Lightweight and Portable

If you’re looking for the exact opposite from the previous entries – something that’s easy to operate and something that doesn’t make too much noise, then this is the buffer for you. The final buffer on this list is Bissell’s BigGreen!

This buffer is a small and portable scrubbing machine that is perfect for cleaning brick, carpet, ceramic, concrete, cork, hardwood, laminate, linoleum, marble, polished tile, rubber, slate, terrazzo, vinyl. The versatility of it ensures that it’s more than enough to clean your home or your apartment, and it really makes for an ideal home cleaning tool.

However, the real big feature of this buffer is its portability and storability. It’s very small (in comparison with other buffers) and very light – light enough for it to be stored wherever you want it. This also comes in handy when you’re using it, as you can scrub hard floors in small tight areas, and it buffs and cleans hardwood floors.

You can freely leave this buffer on-site for small “touch-ups” on carpets and hard floors. It’s also very durable – with all-metal housing, motor base, yoke, and handle.

It’s very maneuverable, and that’s mostly thanks to its compact design. This makes it perfect for scrubbing hard floors in small, tight areas. You can also use it to buff and clean hardwood floors, and it even works well on carpet. For cost-efficient carpet cleaning, use the BGFS5000 portable scrubber to remove spots and stains, then go over the area with a box-style carpet extractor.

What’s interesting about it is that you get a set of pads with it – scrub brushes, green scrubbing pads, tan polishing pads, felt buffing pads are all here for you to use.

This buffer is somewhat more affordable than other buffers on this list, and that’s mostly due to its size. Clearly, it can’t get as much work done in the same amount of time because it’s smaller – but you’re not going to feel that if you’re using it for your house or apartment.

Pros:

  • very maneuverable
  • very versatile – feel free to use it on any sort of floor
  • very compact and light – makes it easy to store
  • ideal for homes

Cons:

  • not great for commercial use, it’s very small and it’d take a lot of time for big jobs
